BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – Five suspected insurgents were detained Wednesday during a Coalition forces’ operation in Zabul province to disrupt insurgent networks in the area.
Coalition forces searched compounds in the Qalat district targeting an insurgent associated with Taliban and foreign-fighter facilitators conducting anti-government activities.
Coalition forces found and detained five people, including the targeted insurgent, with suspected ties to insurgent networks while conducting their search. The detainees will be questioned on their involvement in insurgent operations as well as other extremist activities.
“Coalition forces remain focused on degrading insurgent networks so the Afghan people can be free to choose the future course of their country,” said Capt. Vanessa R. Bowman, Coalition spokesperson.
