Combined forces are focused on building up the strength of Afghan forces and to support them in taking command of the region once they are ready.

Through careful planning and assistance from both Afghan and Coalition forces, goals are met and responses are improved in completing missions throughout the region.  The ANSF along side the ANP have gradually taken the lead in improving security along Highway 1 and assisting Coalition forces in supply convoy protection.

“With the combined efforts of Coalition forces and Afghan forces, we have built three combine forward operating bases in the region to further improve the security in the areas,” said Lt. Col. Mohammad Naser Hadayat, ANSF. “We are glad to help out in any upcoming and ongoing operations in order to improve the livelihood of our country. The Afghans also are conducting missions along side coalition forces in villages around the region to gain the support of the people by handing out clothes, toys, and educational material.”

Similar sentiments were shared by the Coalition.

“The Afghans are the ones that’s going to win this war, America is here to help support them in their journey,” said Lt. Col. Tony Demartino, 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment commander.
